Cliff House wedding :: Dana + Sean

Another beautiful Cliff House at Pikes Peak wedding, and it has been a long time coming for these high school sweethearts! Since Dana and Sean are recent transplants from Chicago, most of their loved ones traveled all the way from the country’s heartland to be present for their wedding at the Cliff House. They were such a fun group (especially the wedding party!), and it is clear that they’ve all considered themselves family for years now. The vows just make it official.

I think Dana has very pretty, feminine taste, which was reflected in the wedding’s color scheme (pink and rose gold), floral design and all the little details. She really thought of everything. I loved her summery, lacy dress, too. It was just lovely and it suited her perfectly.

I always enjoy a Cliff House at Pikes Peak wedding, and this was one of the prettiest I have done there. What a great day! Warmest congratulations Sean and Dana, I had a blast hanging out with you and documenting your happy, laid back nuptials!

Backyard wedding :: Valerie + LaRell

Valerie and LaRell were married on a beautiful, golden, gusty afternoon at her uncle’s home. These two lovebirds met online in a Facebook group, believe it or not. And they fell in love over the phone, since it would be months before they would meet in person — LaRell lived in Oregon! This was an incredibly sweet wedding. You can see how in love they are, just by the way they look at each other. So adorable! Happy honeymoon, Valerie and LaRell!

Johannes and Darshika’s multicultural backyard wedding

This backyard wedding in Colorado Springs was so different from my usual! She’s from Sri Lanka, he’s from Germany, and they met in a hot tub in Canada! Darshika and Johannes are some of the most interesting, educated and intelligent people I’ve met in a while. And extremely nice, too!

It’s technically a misnomer to call their celebration a backyard wedding, because they actually got married in the living room of their beautiful home in Black Forest, just northeast of Colorado Springs. There were a mere 22 guests, almost all of whom came from afar. And I mean REALLY far. I loved how Johannes and Darshika incorporated Sri Lankan and German traditions into their special day, and their families appreciated it too. It was such a lovely, intimate and laid back celebration! Congratulations Darshika and Johannes!

Pinery at the Hill wedding :: Gundega + Rolly

Pinery at the Hill wedding

What a beautiful Pinery at the Hill wedding! I have to admit that this one was extra special for me. Gundi is a personal friend, and I’ve been getting to know Rolly these last few months. She couldn’t have chosen a nicer guy. He adores her, and they are perfect together!

I think the Pinery at the Hill is one of the nicest places for a wedding in Colorado Springs. Not only is the venue itself beautiful, the view over our downtown is quite spectacular. So I was pleased when the two of them chose me to document their Big Important Day there. Gundi incorporated Latvian wedding traditions into the details, and sentimentally wore her late mother’s vintage jewelry, which was beautiful.

All in all, it was simply a wonderful day and I had the best time making these pictures! You could really feel the love! Thanks for everything, Gundi and Rolly! Congratulations and happy honeymoon!

A Halloween Wedding in Vegas!

Colorado Springs destination wedding photographers in Vegas

I don’t know how many Colorado Springs photographers have had the opportunity to document a Halloween wedding in Las Vegas, but I highly recommend the experience! Ha ha! Vegas can only be described as BONKERS on October 31st!

I have a keen appreciation for kitsch, so when CJ and Brandon asked me to photograph their renewal of vows at the Viva Las Vegas Elvis Chapel in Vegas on Halloween… well let’s just say that was right up my alley! Elvis himself officiated the ceremony, everyone was in costume, including myself; I dressed as Where’s Waldo‘s friend, Wenda. (Insert valuable life lesson learned that day: everyone — and I do mean everyone — yells “THERE’S WALDO!” at you when you wear that shirt.) Even the limo driver was in the Halloween spirit! CJ and Brandon wore the coolest Steampunk outfits I’ve ever seen. CJ even changed into different dresses and accessories throughout the day and evening, and she looked gorgeous in all of them. Best of all, the city of Las Vegas in all its madness provided the most amazing backdrop for this super fun photo assignment. What a blast! Viva Las Vegas, baby!

Even the limo driver was in costume!

“The King” officiated the ceremony, which included serenading us with two songs (“I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” and “Love Me Tender”). He did it with great aplomb. The Elvis Chapel doesn’t allow “real” cameras, so I had to use my cell phone to shoot the ceremony from the pews. That was a first! (And a last!)

The whole family got into the Steampunk spirit.
