Garden of the Gods Club wedding :: Anna + Jonathan

I have been dying to share the pictures from this beautiful Garden of the Gods Club wedding! Anna and Jon, along with their families and closest friends, traveled all the way from Chicago and parts beyond to celebrate their union at the beautiful Garden of the Gods Club. Anna was so giddy and animated, it was a joy to capture her happiness, and as for Jon, he just couldn’t stop smiling!

Springtime weather in the Rockies is, as you know, a little fickle! Our day started out with sunshine, and the mild weather held up nicely throughout the pre-ceremony portraits. But half an hour before the outdoor ceremony was to begin, the skies suddenly darkened, the temperature plummeted and rain started to come down. Plan B was put into action! All the chairs were moved from the lawn to the covered patio, the heaters were turned on, and the fire pits were lit. Then suddenly, just as the processional was about to commence, the rain stopped and the sun burst through the clouds, bathing the entire ceremony in a golden glow. Mother Nature really put on a gorgeous show for us. It was fantastic!

The reception was a ton of fun. Jonathan’s family is Jewish, so the highlight of the night for me was the hora. It’s always such a blast! Even Jon’s four year old niece and septuagenarian grandma got a ride in the chair. Talk about a fun party!

I love any opportunity to document a Garden of the Gods Club wedding, and this one was extra special. I had the best time! Congratulations to you, Anna and Jon! Happy honeymoon!

Mount Princeton Hot Springs wedding :: Samantha + Joe

Mt Princeton Hot Springs wedding

I was absolutely thrilled to be the photographer for Joe and Samantha’s Mount Princeton Hot Springs wedding. Why, you ask? Because I’ve been photographing Sam since she was a tweenager, and now look at her! I was over the moon when they (finally) got engaged and tapped me for the photography. And I couldn’t have picked a better guy for her. Joe and Sam aren’t just a good looking couple, they make a great team!

I have a soft spot for Mount Princeton. It’s in a particularly beautiful part of Colorado, so it’s a wonderful place to get married. They couldn’t have chosen a prettier area. Also, I like to think that I know Miss Samantha pretty well by now, and I can say with confidence that she’s a born planner. Everything she does, she does extremely well. So it was no surprise that their wedding at the Mount Princeton Hot Springs was perfect. I mean look at the flowers alone — Sam did them all, even the large, complicated table arrangements. Never mind she’s never done a flower arrangement or bouquet in her life before. Just wow! She did all of the wedding details, in fact, with just a little help from her close friends and bridesmaids. It all looked wonderful and I was so impressed!

Oh and the party was awesome fun, too. Talk about some fun dance floor action! This is what happens when you mix a bunch of Coloradoans with a bunch of midwesterners: crazy, bumpin’ dance floor alchemy! Congratulations Sam and Joe! It was high time you tied the knot, and I’m so happy for you!

Carol + Andrew’s heirloom wedding album

Briarhurst Manor wedding

Presenting Carol and Andrew’s Briarhurst Manor wedding album! Notice the date on the spine. This just goes to prove that it’s never too late forĀ  a beautiful, archival, custom-designed heirloom. Almost seven years have passed since their wedding, and these days Andrew and Carol are parents to three lively little ones. Now they’ll have an heirloom full of sweet memories to hand down to their kids or grandkids some day. I love that.

Amity + Jorge’s sweet backyard wedding

Colorado Springs wedding photography

There was a time when it was common to get married in your parents’ backyard, but nowadays it’s a rarity, which makes it even more special, if you ask me. I relish the opportunity to document a backyard wedding like Amity and Jorge’s. And funny thing, her parents live on the same street as mine! Only a few doors away, actually! So this was doubly fun for me. Jorge has carried a torch for Amity ever since high school, when they were good friends. Several years (and children!) later, they reconnected on Facebook, and wouldn’t you know it, they fell truly in love. What a great story! Congratulations Jorge and Amity!

Downtown Colorado Springs Wedding at the Mining Exchange

Mining Exchange wedding pictures

The day may have started off a little bit gloomy and damp, but as you can see from these Mining Exchange wedding pictures, Austin and Kelsey’s downtown Colorado Springs nuptials ended up being perfect in every way. The weather even decided to cooperate after all! All the clouds miraculously lifted just after the ceremony and we were treated to the most glorious, late afternoon sunshine. Classic Colorado!

Beautiful Kelsey is so tiny, she had to wear high, high platform shoes so Austin could kiss her without stooping. But although the may be petite, she’s mighty! As you can see from these pictures, she is extremely fit and strong. In fact, Kelsey is somewhat of a a body builder, and her beautifully defined muscles looked fantastic in her strapless lace gown. Wow! She worked hard to prepare for her wedding, and it shows! Austin, meanwhile, is so clearly in love with her — it was just adorable the way he gazed at her when she wasn’t looking. The smile never left his face. They are such a cute couple.

I had such a blast covering this fun, family oriented, downtown Colorado Springs wedding. Kelsey has great taste, and her cheerful blue and yellow color scheme was perfect for a summer celebration. Wonderful, happy day, guys! Congratulations again and happy honeymoon!
