Nick and Jennifer commemorated their tenth wedding anniversary with a low key renewal of vows at the Broadmoor’s charming and rustic Fish House on the day after Thanksgiving, with their nearest and dearest family members all there to celebrate the landmark occasion alongside them. A decade after their Texas nuptials, Jen and Nick are now the parents of three beautiful boys, and another one is on the way! Their renewal of vows was simple and beautiful, not really a ceremony but each of them speaking about their love story and their shared life, as their guests listened and their rambunctious sons played. It was incredibly sweet and moving, and I was honored to have been the one chosen to document it all.
I have a keen appreciation for kitsch, so when CJ and Brandon asked me to shoot their renewal of vows at the Viva Las Vegas Elvis Chapel in Vegas, on Halloween no less… well let’s just say that was right up my alley! Everyone was in costume, including myself, and Vegas provided the most amazing backdrop for this fun photo assignment. What a blast! Viva Las Vegas!
“The King” officiated the ceremony, which included serenading us with two songs (“I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” and “Love Me Tender”). He did it with great aplomb. The Elvis Chapel doesn’t allow “real” cameras, so I had to use my cell phone to shoot the ceremony from the pews. That was a first! (And a last!)
On July 3rd of last year I documented a marriage proposal at the Broadmoor (to see those pictures, click HERE). Exactly a year later I was at the Broadmoor again, this time documenting a renewal of vows for a couple whose wedding I shot there a decade ago. Talk about full circle! I can’t believe ten years have flown by so quickly. So much has changed for Heather and Ray in that time frame (most remarkably, four gorgeous sons!), but what hasn’t changed is their strong love, support and admiration for each other. It was incredibly touching for me to be a part of this day, watching them profess their love for one another again, with their boys witnessing it all. What a wonderful day!
