Small Wedding Photography in Green Mountain Falls

These last couple of years I’ve really enjoyed doing small wedding photography, like this tiny, romantic affair in Green Mountain Falls. Certainly the trend of more intimately scaled celebrations has something to do with the pandemic, but in many cases it’s also a situation where the couple are in their late thirties, forties or older, and one or both of them are getting married for a second time and are not interested in having a big bash. (Not that there’s anything wrong with a big bash, of course!) This was the case with Alisa and Brandon, whose love story is very sweet. They were actually good friends years ago, in high school, and didn’t see each other in a romantic way at the time. Each of them went on to marry, and each of them had a daughter. Nearly two decades later, after both marriages ended in divorce, Brandon and Alisa reconnected, and this time the sparks flew; it wasn’t long before they made up for lost time and got engaged. What had started with friendship all those years ago grew into so much more! Their petite wedding at the gazebo in Green Mountain Falls was extremely emotional, and their respective tween-aged daughters (who are almost exactly the same age and get along quite famously) participated in the ceremony by reading self written vows, which only added to the happy tears, mine included. It was so sweet! Afterward, they had a small wedding reception at Pizzeria Rustica in Old Colorado City. It really was a perfect day, and a perfect way to celebrate their profound love and enduring friendship.

Colorado Springs elopement :: Kim + Chris

I sometimes get asked if I do small weddings, and my answer is that I love small weddings! I especially love elopements, when it’s just me, the officiate and the happy couple. It’s the sweetest! Oftentimes it’s a couple like Kim and Chris, who are in their fifties, each with grown children, and taking a second chance at love and lifetime commitment. They opted to get married at a private spot in Palmer Park that had a beautiful view of the mountains and the city. As you can see, they’re madly in love! Congratulations Chris and Kim!

Manitou Springs wedding :: Alicia + Gabe

Gabe and Alicia’s New Year’s Eve wedding at the Cliff House was so tiny, the grand total of people present, excluding myself, was only eleven! At first they had planned on casually tying the knot at the courthouse, but Alicia’s mom thought it would be nice if the nearest and dearest could be present, so the event “grew legs” so to speak. Still and all, it was an extremely low key, intimate and happy celebration and a great way to finish off 2016! All the best, Alicia and Gabe! Congratulations!

Garden of the Gods wedding in Colorado Springs :: Erin + Michael

Colorado Springs wedding photography Garden of the Gods

This intensely emotional Colorado Springs wedding at the Garden of the Gods was extra special for me, and not just for photography reasons. Michael and Erin were originally planning a great big wedding bash next August in upstate New York. But when Michael’s grandmother’s health recently took a turn for the worse, they made an incredibly generous and sweet gesture: they moved their wedding date up by a year and they came here to Colorado Springs to tie the knot, so she would be able to be there for them. They planned it all in a matter of weeks. Needless to say, it was an extremely emotional afternoon for everyone, including myself. Yes, my tear ducts leaked copiously along with all of Michael and Erin’s loved ones! I’m definitely a crier too, when it comes to situations like these!

Certainly Michael and Erin make a beautiful couple, and it was a joy to photograph their true happiness and profound love. It didn’t hurt that it was also a flawlessly gorgeous, patented Colorado day, with the kind of golden afternoon sunshine and glorious late summer haze that we all know and love so well. Magical, magical light, almost dreamlike, really. Just perfect!

I treasured documenting every emotional moment of this special Colorado Springs wedding at Mothers Chapel in the Garden of the Gods. So much love! Congratulations Erin and Michael! Also, wishing you a very happy honeymoon!

Michael and his grandmother, whom he adores. These photographs speak volumes about their close relationship.

Colorado Springs backyard wedding :: Sarah + Darrell

small backyard wedding in Colorado Springs
I love a backyard wedding (although technically, this was a FRONT yard wedding!), and Sarah is a good friend, so this was doubly sweet for me! Sarah was lucky enough to grow up in a beautiful, secluded and unique neighborhood in Colorado Springs that is almost like a nature preserve, so marrying lucky Darrell at the house where she grew up was a given. There were only about 20 or 30 people in attendance, and after the ceremony we all went to the Margarita at Pine Creek to celebrate. It was a lovely, perfect day! Congratulations Sarah and Darrell!!!
