A Different Kind of Portrait

When Jessica, owner of Root: Center for Yoga & Sacred Studies, approached me about doing portraits to complement the book she’s been working on about her yoga practice, she was careful to explain that she didn’t want the same old “doing yoga in the woods” photos, she wanted something more evocative. The images she had in mind had more to do with the emotions and philosophy of her practice, and she and I spent quite a bit of time brainstorming wardrobe, styling and locations so we could accomplish what she wanted. We actually took these in April (I’m a little behind on sharing them, having spent most of my summer and fall working on weddings). I think these images are beautiful! We were both very happy with the results and will be continuing her project with another photo shoot soon!

Fashion Portraits :: Marian’s awesome photo shoot!

Colorado Springs fashion portraits

I took these portraits of Marian over a year ago and neglected to share them until now. Shame on me, because look how gorgeous she is! And what are fashion portraits, you ask? They’re fabulous pictures of you looking dressy and beautiful, for any reason or no reason at all. You don’t have to be a high school senior to get special pictures done — you deserve amazing portraits of yourself at any age!

Nicy’s 40th birthday portraits

I got really behind in sharing photos over the summer and fall, and some great shots got neglected. Case in point: Nicy’s 40th birthday photo shoot, which definitely deserves to be seen! Sooooo, better late than never, please enjoy these fun portraits  Nicy is a wonderfully evolved and positive human and I was so glad to capture some of her joie de vivre in pictures. Instead of lamenting turning 40, she celebrated it and I love that! It was truly a pleasure photographing this gorgeous, uplifting woman!
