Denver wedding photographer: Margarita & Manuel’s backyard fiesta

[ Denver wedding photographers ]

Here’s a wedding that I second shot in September for a photographer friend out of Boulder, Steve. I enjoy second shooting because it gives me the opportunity to get as creative as I want to without the pressure of being the primary shooter.

Margarita and Manuel’s backyard fiesta was quite an event! She’s Chilean and he’s Mexican, and the blending of cultures resulted in an extremely colorful AND flavorful party (as in delicious food!). Toss in a little Burning Man culture and some salsa music, and you’ve got a seriously great party!

Family and friends helped 100% with the setup and decorating for the reception. Early in the day I noticed this “to do” list tucked in the back pocket of one of the helpers.

A nervous looking Manuel.

Margarita’s tiny nephew was the ring bearer.

Margarita about to round the corner and greet her groom. She looks so excited!

His expression upon seeing her :o)

Trust me when I say Manuel is a man of very few words. His happy expression in this moment spoke for him.

This is the moment when Margarita’s father saw her for the first time in her wedding finery. He looks so emotional — I love it.

The wedding ceremony took place at Rockland Community Church in Genessee, near Golden.

Catching Manuel’s eye at the top of the aisle.

Beautiful bride!

What a cool bouquet! Love the peacock feathers!

Their getaway car was a vintage Camaro owned (and chauffeured) by a friend.

Cruising down I-70.

Posing for Steve’s camera.

Kind of a cool location for portraits, no?

Loved the table decor!

As the sun went down, the mariachi band kicked into full swing. They were awesome.

Margarita is really into Burning Man, thus there were tents all over the property with a “burner” theme and exotic lighting. There was even a dome (you burners out there know what I’m talking about). This is their wedding cake in its own special tent.
