Heather, Luke and Max

I took these portraits while in Phoenix last month. It’s just taken me a while to get around to blogging them! This is Heather and her sons Lucas and Max, aged eight and six. (And their dog, Nelly.) These two boys are so full of energy. They just barely let me take about four seated, formally posed shots, and then they were off! You see the results of the posed shots above, and the crazy energy below. At one point they were standing on a picnic table yelling COWABUNGA! They were so cute!

Thanks guys, I had fun taking these. Can’t wait ’til next time!

Here they are yelling “Cowabunga!”

A totally unscripted moment. They were just checking out the ducks.

The C family!

This is a family with six kids ranging from age four to 18! Before you decide to pity the parents, let me tell you how much they love parenting and clearly adore every single one of their brood. I had a LOT of fun taking these portraits, so much so that when I got home from the shoot I still had a huge grin on my face! What a super family! Everyone was so nice, so cute in their own way, and so much fun to work with. Thanks guys, I can’t wait for the next time!

Let’s see if I can name all the kids… from left: Alex, Zack, Henry, Mary, Tess and JJ. Hey, good for me for remembering all those names!

Here’s Zack. It just seemed right to have him climb a tree for his portrait. To me he looks like Huck Finn!

Mary — she was so proud of those hot pink crocs!

Here’s Henry, oh my! Look at those big hazel eyes and those dimples!

We had the most amazing light for this portrait of Tess.

Mom and dad, Tina and Mike. Can you believe this woman has had six kids?!? She looks great!

When I told the kids I wanted them to form a human pyramid, they thought I was crazy! But what a cute picture!

They ordered this composite of Mary jumping to go in her room, which is also pink. Adorable!

Mike and Tina loved this composite of all their kids. It’s going to look great in their house!

They also ordered this wonderful composite to give as Christmas presents to the grandparents. What a cool gift!

Welcome Mia!

Here’s something that’s sure to put a smile on your face! Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing brand new baby Mia on her 11th day in this world. What a darling baby! Mia’s parents, Elizabeth and Dan, are some of my favorite clients, ever since I first photographed Liz when she was a senior in high school. They have signed up for my Baby’s First Year program, which means I’ll get to photograph Mia two more times in the coming year. I can’t wait!

Here is Mia’s birth announcement (above is the front of it and below is the inside), custom-designed by yours truly. Look at her cute little toes!

And here are a few pics of her sweet little face. What a cutie! I can’t wait to do more!

The M family

Not counting the nanny, there were 16 beautiful family members in this group! It was quite a job, but spending an afternoon with the M family was really fun. We had three generations there to celebrate Grandpa’s birthday, including seven gorgeous kids. What a houseful! We shot these at the grandparents’ home in Black Forest, under dramatic skies and beautiful Indian summer late afternoon light. Here are a handful of my faves from our day. Nice looking group eh?

Reid & Ollie

Reid and Ollie are four years old and man did they keep me on my toes taking their pictures! Their mom, Beth, was a guest at a wedding that I shot five years ago; when she brought the boys to town to visit relatives she looked me up for some portraits of her two little stinkers. Aren’t they cute? My day had gotten off to a bad start (bad news in my inbox), but within minutes of meeting Reid and Ollie I was in such a great mood — they seem to have that effect on you! They were so full of laughter, mischief and energy, it was like spending time with sunshine.

Thanks guys for brightening my day! Tamera

We took all of these at Palmer Park. The boys ran immediately to the rocks and started climbing like pros! Absolutely fearless.

Ollie is the king of the hill!

Sometimes when you ask four year old boys to smile, this is what you get.

Showing me their muscles

I love how Reid’s little tongue is sticking out with the effort of balancing on this chain. It’s so cute!

I love love LOVE this picture! It just screams “I’m four!”

It was such a hot day, after our shoot we went for ice cream at Baskin Robbins. Within moments Ollie was covered in the stuff.
