Colorado Springs baby portraits: meet Baby S!

I shot Evelyn and Erik’s wedding in 2009. Has it really been three years already??? And just as I predicted, after enjoying a few years of happy newlywed-ness, they produced an absolutely gorgeous child. Meet their adorable daughter, S !!! She was 10 weeks old when we did these portraits, and as you can see she’s already a superstar :^) I can’t wait to watch this sweet little punkin’ grow.

Cute!

All tuckered out from her first official photo shoot.

A favorite image from their wedding.

Fine art photographer in Colorado: Charlotte at 100

[ Colorado fine art photography ]

I made these portraits of Charlotte last month on my birthday. At 100 years old, Charlotte is the oldest person I’ve ever photographed. She was born in 1911. Imagine all that her eyes have seen! Although Charlotte never had children and has outlived all her family, please don’t feel sorry for her — she has lived an amazing life and is very happy to be able to live at home instead of a facility. She has several caretakers who take shifts to look after her, so she is never alone. She also has wonderful neighbors who are always concerned with her well being. One of her caretakers, Judy, is a good friend of mine and always likes to tell me about the funny things Charlotte says.

I had a wonderful afternoon hanging out with Charlotte. It was a great way to celebrate my birthday (she called me a “baby”, and I guess from her perspective I am!). I’m so glad I was able to make these portraits of her to commemorate her 100th year.

Charlotte has been an animal lover her entire life. The long driveway to her home is dotted with birdhouses like this one.

My welcoming committee was Tilly, Charlotte’s ancient beagle.

At one time Charlotte and her husband had quite a few dogs, thus the enormous great room of the house was divided by a wrought iron fence to keep them contained. I spied Charlotte in a prayerful pose through the bars and quickly snapped off three frames. She’s not actually praying (she’s watching TV), but I just really liked this moment.

Charlotte spends a lot of time sleeping, so her caretakers pass the time by reading, watching TV and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Some photos of Charlotte as a young lady. She was a flapper! Imagine the fun times she must have had! Did she do the Charleston?

The middle image shows Charlotte celebrating her 100th birthday last August.

With her first husband, Arthur, from a play they were in.

With her second husband, Bob.

On the left, Charlotte is fully engaged with me and my camera. Seconds later she drifts off.

Here we’ve moved her into a position near a window. She joked that it’s okay for me to heavily retouch her portraits.

I think she’s beautiful.

Charlotte’s caretaker, Judy, helping her out of her chair.

Faithful Tilly. Such a sweet girl.

Senior portraits in downtown Colorado Springs: JJ

[ Colorado Springs senior portrait photography ]

JJ was great fun to work with because he’s got such personality and joie de vivre. Oh and style, this guy’s got style! We did most of his senior portraits in downtown Colorado Springs, but since a rainstorm was looming over the city that day we ended up running all over town to avoid the weather. It eventually caught us, though, but by then we were all the way down by the airport! Thanks for the fun shoot, JJ! I hope you dig your senior portraits!

JJ is one very stylish guy — I love the fedora.

Colorado Springs senior portraits: Rachel

[ senior portraits in Colorado Springs ]

We did Rachel’s senior portraits in Old Colorado City a few weeks ago on a perfect fall day. What a cool kid! She’s REALLY into the Beatles and REALLY into shoes. Hmmmm, sounds a little like someone I know: me! We had so much fun taking her portraits, we were sad when we had to stop for the day. Rachel, I hope you had as much fun as I did. You’re gorgeous!

Rachel brought her guitar to the shoot. We decided to use it in a few setups.

I love this shot. She looks like a model.

Many thanks to LauraAnne at Domino for allowing us to shoot in her groovy shop!

Rachel’s parents ordered five custom albums as keepsakes for themselves and Rachel’s grandparents (and one for Rachel too, of course!).

M & T’s wedding at the Cheyenne Mountain Country Club

Tess and Michael’s wedding bash at the Cheyenne Mountain Country Club could only be described as glamorous. Everything was perfection: the red and black color scheme, Tess’s romantic updo, the sparkly crystal decor, the whimsical cake topper… but especially the happy couple! We even had a visit from a momma bear and her two cubs at the end of the night. What a memorable way to end a memorable evening!

So pretty!

There’s a very cool, old school men’s bar in the clubhouse. Michael requested that we get a few Rat Pack style guy pictures in there.

Beautiful floral decor by the very talented Rhonda Nichols.

The cake topper was a humorous nod to Michael’s hockey fanaticism.

Beautiful couple!

The best part of this picture is Tess’s brother (far right). He’s hilarious!

Tess’s dad and brother wore matching Green Bay Packers rings. And check out the cheese tie!

Last shot of the night.
