Catholic wedding photography in Colorado Springs: Amy & Kevin

I’ve known Amy since she was about 14, when I worked with her mom, Sarah. When Amy was ready to graduate from high school, I did her senior portraits. That was about 10 years ago, and I was so tickled when she called me this spring and told me she was engaged and needed a wedding photographer! She and Kevin were married at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, the same church my mom attends (and where I was confirmed many years ago). Look at the smile on Amy’s face in every one of these pictures. That’s one happy bride! Congratulations Amy and Kevin, your wedding was beautiful!

Amy looks so happy and excited being escorted up the aisle. I love it!

Amy and Kevin’s talented friends entertained us during the reception with their ballroom dancing skills.

Their first dance.

Air Force Academy wedding: Emily & Alex

How much do I love my job?!? Emily and Alex have been such a pleasure to work with from minute one! I was so excited when their wedding day finally arrived. They were married in a traditional Catholic mass at the AFA Cadet Chapel, and their wedding reception was at the Colorado Springs Marriott. It was such a great day. Congratulations Alex and Emily!

Emily’s shoes were to DIE for.

Emily’s grandmother, the lady on the right in this picture, sewed the wedding gown. Amazing. She also sewed the veil, the garters, and the bridesmaid dresses.  And she did it all in THREE MONTHS.

Isn’t she a beautiful bride?

Alex and Emily’s ceremony was in the Catholic section of the Cadet Chapel, downstairs from the main chapel.

Married 60 seconds. I live for moments like this.

Alex is an Air Force fighter pilot.  F-16 shaped cookies?  I’ll have one! Or maybe two ;^)

Flying Horse Club wedding: Jaime & David

I’ve been quite lax about blogging lately, but that’s because I’ve been so busy shooting and editing. I finally have a spare minute to update you on what I’ve been doing this summer.  So without further ado, here’s a wedding I should have posted weeks ago! I kicked off my wedding season on May 20th with Jaime and David’s fabulous wedding at the AFA Cadet Chapel and the Club at Flying Horse. It was great! We had perfect, sunny weather, and just the right amount of breeze to lift Jaime’s dramatically long veil. It was such a pleasure documenting these lovebirds on their special day!

Gotta love a bride who wears gold lamé flats!

A detail of Jaime’s gorgeous gown.

The kiss, captured by my assistant Allison. The best thing about this picture is the little blonde flower girl in the foregroud. She can’t stand to watch the smooching — it’s so cute!

A Cliff House wedding album: Katie and Chad

To carry on with my last post’s theme, here’s another fabulous wedding album from last season. Katie, Chad and their families and loved ones all traveled great distances in order to celebrate their wedding here in beautiful Colorado, at the historic Cliff House. I think it was the hottest day of the year, but no one was complaining because we all had such a killer time! It was a joy designing this wedding album because Chad and Katie were so nice to work with, and the great memories of that day were reflected so vividly in the photos. I loved the finished album so much, I think I’m going to make a duplicate for myself!

Love this ultra-romantic wedding picture of them at the Garden of the Gods with Pikes Peak in the background! It makes a stunning double-spread centerpiece in their wedding album.

This lovely bride, Susie, is an old friend of mine from a lifetime ago when I worked in corporate America. I quit that job 10 years ago and never looked back, and have only seen Susie sporadically in the meantime. I was so happy to hear that she’d found Bill, a guy who clearly adores her. It was sweet to watch these two all day. Susie is a grandma (a very hot grandma!), so here’s your proof that being twitterpated is not just the domain of the young and foolish! Susie and Bill, thank you for letting me document your happiness. I wish you all the best in your new adventure as husband and wife :^)

This is one very happy bride!

Bill watching Susie process up the aisle on the arm of her son. His expression says it all.

I love how he looks at her!

The petite cake was just big enough for the 11 people in attendance.
