S & T’s intimate wedding in the Garden of the Gods

[ wedding photography in Colorado Springs ]

Shaun and Tanya were married on a misty, chilly day last month in the Garden of the Gods. Normally the view is clear and extremely bright there, but on this day it was beautifully soft and misty. In all my years living here I’ve never seen the Garden of the Gods look quite like it did that day. It was magical! The fact that there were only nine people there including me and the officiant made it extra special. Collectively we braved the chill and had a truly memorable afternoon. Congratulations Tanya and Shaun!

Tanya got ready at the historic Cliff House.

This is the moment that Shaun first saw Tanya in her dress and veil. He looks like a VERY happy man!

Moments after the kiss and pronouncement… married 10 seconds and over the moon!!!

There was this little moment just after the ceremony when everyone was milling around, and I spotted Tanya and Shaun gazing at each other with these wonderful expressions. Ah, love :o)

Gotta love a wedding dress with pockets. Sassy!

Last shot of the day.

Colorado wedding photojournalism: Carol + Andrew

[ Colorado Springs wedding photojournalists ]

Andrew and Carol met at Adams State College in Alamosa, over pizza at a mutual friend’s place. They are so cute together! I’d describe their wedding as a perfect blend of the casual and the elegant, with a killer party (karaoke, anyone?) to boot. I should also mention that, since technically Carol and Andrew have been married since last year, theirs was one of the briefest wedding ceremonies I’ve ever documented. I think the processional was actually longer than the ceremony itself ;^) Yes, it was definitely all about the party — and what a fun party it was!

The reality of a crazy wedding day — don’t forget to eat, people!

I’m glad the tradition of a penny in the shoe for good luck still perserveres. Traditions like these are a big part of the fun.

The kiss! Andrew’s brother (in the background) officiated the ceremony.

Not many men could carry off a white tuxedo jacket, but Andrew looks downright elegant.

Andrew’s grandparents. They’ve been married for umpteen years, and you can see how happy they still are together. I just had to get a portrait of them!

Colorado Springs engagement portraits: Jenn & Marin

[ engagement portraits Colorado Springs ]
I’m looking forward to Marin and Jenn’s wedding this summer in Manitou. What a cute couple! They met in college (they’re both geniuses, by the way — no way could I have survived School of Mines) and are clearly mad for each other. I love how he makes her laugh! My brother Chuck suggested the location we used for most of these, and they came out great. Thanks Chuck!

Showing off the bling. Marin is such a goofball.

One of my favorite engagement portraits ever.

I love her reflection in the window glass. So happy!

Who’s the boss?!?

See how she looks at him? That’s love, baby!

Engagement portraits in Denver: Amy & Tyler

After spending an afternoon with Amy and Tyler in Arvada’s Olde Town to shoot these engagement portraits, I’m starting to get really excited for their Denver wedding in July! They are planning on having their wedding ceremony at Holy Ghost (one of my favorite Denver churches), and their wedding reception at the Oxford Hotel. You can see from their engagement portraits that they are a beautiful couple — imagine how wonderful their wedding pictures are going to be. I can’t wait!

Cuuuuuuute!!!

I can never get enough of that Colorado sunshine!

I think Tyler looks like Ben Affleck…

and Amy is a dead ringer for Niki Taylor.

Allison & Brian’s Temple Events Center wedding

It’s been ages since I updated my blog! I wanted to share my images from Allison and Brian’s fabulous wedding at the Temple Events Center in Denver. This was my last wedding of the year and it was wonderful! Brian happens to be my best friend Jennifer’s brother, so this celebration was especially near and dear to my heart. I’m very happy for them. Congratulations Brian and Allison!

Wedding and reception venue: Temple Events Center
Cake: Simplicity Cakes
Bridal hair: Kim Jundt, (720) 261-8274
Floral design: Babylon Floral
Ceremony music: St. Martin’s Chamber Choir
Bride and groom’s transportation: Royal Express Transportation

Jennifer (the groom’s sister and my best friend) borrowed one of my cameras and hung out with the boys as they got ready. I love this picture she snapped of our friend Spencer, looking so relaxed and happy.

Jennifer also designed and handcrafted all of the invitations, programs and menus. Gorgeous!

The flowergirls, Ashley and Eden.

Since Brian and Allison didn’t want to see each other before their evening ceremony, I had to improvise! I took some of their portraits out in the street as my boyfriend Pat trained video lights on them.

Beautiful bride!

Handsome groom!

I’m a little jealous of Allison’s canary yellow diamond.

Immediately after signing the license.
