A baby for Jen and Simo!

[ Boulder portrait photographer ]

Jennifer and Simone’s 2006 Denver wedding was one of my favorites of all time — what a great party that was! They were married at Cheesman Park in Denver and I had a blast documenting it, so I was tickled to get an e-mail from them last month asking for maternity portraits. Such a nice surprise to hear the great news! We took these portraits last week at their charming home in south Boulder. Baby is due on September 1st and I can’t wait!

Simone is Italian. For those of you who don’t speak the language, his name is pronounced see-MOH-nay, or Simo for short. Their son will have an Italian name too, but I won’t give it away until after he arrives. Since they are doing a Baby’s First Year package, you’ll get to watch him grow along with me :o)

I know this has nothing to do with maternity portraits, but I couldn’t resist getting a snap of their adorable cat.

I would say that pregnancy becomes Jen. She looks great!

They’re going to have a beautiful baby! The teddy bear belonged to Jen when she was a child.

The light in their upstairs hallway was downright cinematic. Love it.

Max turns one!

Look at this big boy! Max’s parents, Angie and Jordan, had me do some portraits to mark his first birthday, and oh he is sooooooooo cute. We did these at a park near their home in Denver on Sunday the 31st. Max is a really active little guy, I had my hands full on this portrait shoot!
He’s all roly poly and dimply — I love his chubby little cheeks and cheerful smile. Don’t you just want to pick him up and squeeze him?

Max was pretty much running around like this the entire time, with a huge smile on his face. He had us in stitches.

He loved the bubbles!

Isn’t this hilarious?!?

Tyler is two!

Some of my favorite longtime clients, Courtney and Michael (I shot their wedding in October of 2004), had me do some portraits of their son Tyler to commemorate his second birthday. I haven’t seen Tyler since the portraits I did of him at three months old. Well, time surely flies. I was so tickled to see how much he has grown since then! He’s very chipper, and every inch the little boy. He’s also very two, if you know what I mean! So independent and full of energy!

We took these portraits on a rainy day last weekend. Since it was too soggy to shoot at any of my regular locations, we decided to venture to Manitou, where the rain had already come and gone. Tyler was undaunted by the weather. It was a lot of fun following him around and capturing his two-ness!

What goes up…

must come down!

Tyler the explorer.

We asked him, “Where’s Tyler?” and this is what he did. Cute!

I think this photo is soooooo cute.

Isn’t this adorable? He’s sniffing his flower and flirting with the camera. Heartbreaker!

Mia at six months

Here’s little Mia, and she’s growing every day! You may remember her from these portraits I did of her when she was born last October. Now she’s six months old and getting so big! Her parents, Liz and Dan, had me come over and do some casual portraits in their new home, as Phase 3 of their Baby’s First Year package. I was so happy to see them and to marvel at Mia’s progress. She’s such a cute little stinker!

Mia has the deepest blue eyes I’ve ever seen.

Doesn’t Liz look great?

I absolutely love this image of Dan and Mia. Adorable.

The H family

I photographed Liz and Chad’s wedding way back in May of 2004, and we’ve kept in touch over the years. Recently Chad received a great distinction at work (Employee of the Year!) and needed a head shot for the company to use. They decided to do some family portraits while we were at it, especially since their adorable daughter, Addison, was about to turn two. Addison is a little spark plug! She’s absolutely adorable and she looks just like her parents. She was a real ham for the camera, which resulted in some great portraits of her.

I had so much fun taking these — I can’t wait until next time!

I hadn’t planned on using the muslin backdrop for the family portraits (it was in place for Chad’s head shots), but Addison jumped right in there with her pony. Cute!

I learned a long time ago that turning a kid upside will always get a smile out of them.

I love this picture of Addison running toward Mommy and Daddy.
