Tyler is two!

Some of my favorite longtime clients, Courtney and Michael (I shot their wedding in October of 2004), had me do some portraits of their son Tyler to commemorate his second birthday. I haven’t seen Tyler since the portraits I did of him at three months old. Well, time surely flies. I was so tickled to see how much he has grown since then! He’s very chipper, and every inch the little boy. He’s also very two, if you know what I mean! So independent and full of energy!

We took these portraits on a rainy day last weekend. Since it was too soggy to shoot at any of my regular locations, we decided to venture to Manitou, where the rain had already come and gone. Tyler was undaunted by the weather. It was a lot of fun following him around and capturing his two-ness!

What goes up…

must come down!

Tyler the explorer.

We asked him, “Where’s Tyler?” and this is what he did. Cute!

I think this photo is soooooo cute.

Isn’t this adorable? He’s sniffing his flower and flirting with the camera. Heartbreaker!

The H family

I photographed Liz and Chad’s wedding way back in May of 2004, and we’ve kept in touch over the years. Recently Chad received a great distinction at work (Employee of the Year!) and needed a head shot for the company to use. They decided to do some family portraits while we were at it, especially since their adorable daughter, Addison, was about to turn two. Addison is a little spark plug! She’s absolutely adorable and she looks just like her parents. She was a real ham for the camera, which resulted in some great portraits of her.

I had so much fun taking these — I can’t wait until next time!

I hadn’t planned on using the muslin backdrop for the family portraits (it was in place for Chad’s head shots), but Addison jumped right in there with her pony. Cute!

I learned a long time ago that turning a kid upside will always get a smile out of them.

I love this picture of Addison running toward Mommy and Daddy.

One of my favorite images from Liz and Chad’s wedding, May 2004.

Deb loves Otton

I just had the occasion to delve deep into my archives for an image, and came across Deb and Otton’s wedding from September of 2004. I thought it would be nice to share some of their pictures here. These were taken on film.

Otton and Deb’s wedding and reception took place at the Hilton El Conquistador Resort in Tucson, Arizona on a perfectly balmy day. Deb happens to be a friend of mine, so I remember being very tickled when they asked me to shoot their wedding. I had never met Otton but I quickly learned what a nice person he is. They’ve now been going strong for nearly five years, and they are just as happy now as they look in these pictures. Deb was a gorgeous, gorgeous bride! She had been a bridesmaid something like 17 times (I kid you not), so, on the cusp of 40, when it finally came time to plan her own wedding she went for it!

I remember what a fun day it was for all of us. Otton’s enormous Cuban family really knows how to party! Debbie had EIGHT bridesmaids — hey, you know what they say about paybacks!

Shortly after their wedding Deb and Otton relocated to Colorado, but lately they’ve been missing the warmth of Tucson so they moved back in December. Miss you both! It’s so fun to look at your wedding photos and reminisce.

Debbie had an absolutely radiant smile on her face all day long. Every single picture.

I loved her bouquet, I thought it was so unique. Warning: unless you are a six foot tall glamazon like Debbie, you will not be able to carry this off!

Nice bling Deb! Catching her father’s eye as she arrives for a few pre-ceremony portraits.

The ceremony was full of laughter.

I love this moment — Otton’s mom congratulating him as he walks down the aisle with his new wife.

Beautiful Debbie! She used to model in New York, can you tell?

I didn’t have as much time as I would have liked with the newlyweds for portraits after the ceremony. Just long enough to grab a few quick, romantic moments at dusk.

Everyone’s favorite image from the day.

Deb and Otton both work in large resort hotels like the Hilton El Conquistador, so Deb was very hands on in planning the details, such as the floral arrangements and lighting. All I can say is wow! The ballroom looked spectacular.
Here’s my BFF Jenn on the left with her sister Paula, who happens to be Deb’s BFF. Somehow Paula got out of bridesmaid duty. Lucky her!

It was a crazy party. This guy must be related to Otton!

Gretchen & John

I finally got to meet Gretchen and John, who hired me long distance months and months ago for their upcoming June wedding, and they are so much fun! We took these engagement portraits a couple of weekends ago. Since their reception is going to be at the Garden of the Gods Club, we decided it would be appropos to do some of the portraits at the Garden of the Gods. For the first time in my life I did the tourist thing and took pictures of the actual sign — I felt like a dork but I’m so happy with how they turned out.

Can’t wait for the wedding, guys!
