I did a fabulous fashion editorial for Safron Boutique at the end of November, and I really love how the pictures came out! If you’re not familiar with Safron, let me just sum it up by saying they have the most edgy, unique clothes in the city and you should really get over there and do some shopping! You can find them in Old Colorado City, at 2511 West Colorado.
A Different Kind of Portrait
When Jessica, owner of Root: Center for Yoga & Sacred Studies, approached me about doing portraits to complement the book she’s been working on about her yoga practice, she was careful to explain that she didn’t want the same old “doing yoga in the woods” photos, she wanted something more evocative. The images she had in mind had more to do with the emotions and philosophy of her practice, and she and I spent quite a bit of time brainstorming wardrobe, styling and locations so we could accomplish what she wanted. We actually took these in April (I’m a little behind on sharing them, having spent most of my summer and fall working on weddings). I think these images are beautiful! We were both very happy with the results and will be continuing her project with another photo shoot soon!
Fashion portraits on the beach!
Long time client Heather, who lives in Arizona, commissioned me to fly to southern California to do three shoots in one: family portraits, senior portraits for her oldest son, and some very special fashion portraits of just her wearing a fabulous, slinky red gown. This, ladies, is my forté: photographing women beautifully. We wandered up and down La Jolla Cove as the waves crashed, and I got some simply amazing pictures of her. If you would like to dress up and create some incredible portraits like these, for no other reason than you’re gorgeous and you deserve to feel beautiful, contact me for a consultation.
Retro Photo Shoot!
I recently had the great pleasure of photographing the fabulous Michelle Baldwin, a.k.a. Vivienne VaVoom, for this fun retro photo shoot in Colorado Springs!! I hand picked a number of perfect locations for this shoot, and Michelle has a huge wardrobe that fits the era (both true vintage and retro-styled clothing). Bud’s Muffler kindly loaned me their 1955 Chevy pickup, and Russ, who owns the speedometer repair shop on Kiowa Street, also let me use his gorgeous ’56 Corvette. My dear friend Ron at Murphy’s Tavern gave me the run of the place, including their classic horseshoe bar, and we stopped by the Trolley Car Museum for a few snaps there, too. Oh and that greaser who’s “fixing” the Chevy pickup is my very own handsome fella, Pat. We had a blast! All in all it was a fabulous, fun retro photo shoot and I love the pictures!
