A baby for Jen and Simo!

[ Boulder portrait photographer ]

Jennifer and Simone’s 2006 Denver wedding was one of my favorites of all time — what a great party that was! They were married at Cheesman Park in Denver and I had a blast documenting it, so I was tickled to get an e-mail from them last month asking for maternity portraits. Such a nice surprise to hear the great news! We took these portraits last week at their charming home in south Boulder. Baby is due on September 1st and I can’t wait!

Simone is Italian. For those of you who don’t speak the language, his name is pronounced see-MOH-nay, or Simo for short. Their son will have an Italian name too, but I won’t give it away until after he arrives. Since they are doing a Baby’s First Year package, you’ll get to watch him grow along with me :o)

I know this has nothing to do with maternity portraits, but I couldn’t resist getting a snap of their adorable cat.

I would say that pregnancy becomes Jen. She looks great!

They’re going to have a beautiful baby! The teddy bear belonged to Jen when she was a child.

The light in their upstairs hallway was downright cinematic. Love it.

At a park just down the street from their home.

One of my favorite images from their 2006 wedding in Denver.

Mia at six months

Here’s little Mia, and she’s growing every day! You may remember her from these portraits I did of her when she was born last October. Now she’s six months old and getting so big! Her parents, Liz and Dan, had me come over and do some casual portraits in their new home, as Phase 3 of their Baby’s First Year package. I was so happy to see them and to marvel at Mia’s progress. She’s such a cute little stinker!

Mia has the deepest blue eyes I’ve ever seen.

Doesn’t Liz look great?

I absolutely love this image of Dan and Mia. Adorable.

Aalia’s baby book

You may remember Aalia from the portraits I did of her in December, when she was just 11 days old. Her parents, Aaron and Souheila, wanted a special keepsake of Aalia’s infancy as well as some special gifts for the grandmothers, so they ordered a custom 8×8″ linen album and two handmade trifold folios featuring their favorite images from the portrait sitting. The album is sage green and the folios are light plum and plum brocade, both with ivory ribbons. They’re gorgeous! I hope these photos do them justice! (Click on the images to see them larger.)

Welcome Aalia!

On the 17th I had the joy of photographing 12 day-old Aalia. I think she is one of the most beautiful babies I’ve ever seen! She’s tiny (under six pounds) and perfect. Aalia’s parents are Aaron and Souheila — you may remember them from this photo shoot I did with them in November. They are so proud of their baby girl, and they should be. She’s darling!

We took these photos in Aaron and Sou’s charming home, which was nearly empty because they were poised to move to the East Coast just a few days later. These portraits were definitely taken on Aalia’s terms! There is nothing like a sleeping infant, but sometimes getting them into that state can be a challenge ;o)

Since they’ve moved away, I’m working with Aalia’s parents long distance on creating a custom album and birth announcements for her. I’ll share more later. Until then, enjoy these!

How cute is this — she’s blowing a bubble! She has a mouth just like a little rosebud. So adorable!

Here’s the inside spread of Aalia’s birth announcement (it folds down the middle). Since Souheila is French and Aaron also speaks native French, the announcement is bilingual.

Souheila & Aaron

As you can see from these pictures, this little family of two is about to become a family of three! Souheila is French and Aaron is American. They met in college quite a few years ago and have been happily married for a while. Now they’re finally working on growing the family tree, much to the excitement of their parents! We took these portraits a couple of weeks ago in the Garden of the Gods on a perfect autumn day. We really got lucky with the light and the weather. It was wonderful.

Souheila and Aaron are really excited about their new addition. For the curious, it’s a girl — but her name is a big secret! She’s due in a month. I can’t wait to meet her!

Doesn’t Souheila look fantastic?!? Pregnancy becomes her.
