As a family photographer, I have to say that the favorite thing about my job is watching families form and grow, and documenting their progress over time. Lucky me! So I love the latest portraits I made of the D family in Palmer Park last year. (Yes I’m still catching up on sharing pictures I made months ago ) I have been photographing this beautiful family from its very beginnings, when Sean and Bobbi got married at the historic Pauline Chapel in 2009. After a couple of years of enjoying being footloose and fancy free newlyweds, they added a daughter and then a son to the lineup. It was no surprise to me that Bobbi and Sean’s children turned out to be gorgeous, and I had the honor of doing newborn portraits of each and then doing family portraits every now and again over the years. Look how big they are now! What a lovely family in every way. I always enjoy a chance to catch up with the D clan and make new pictures as the children grow. Have I mentioned that I love being a family photographer?!? I’m so lucky!
Portrait Photography for Women
This is Kari, who wanted to do something just for herself, but instead of going on a shopping spree or having a spa day, she decided on something more permanent — a gift of portrait photography. Having some beautiful, timeless portraits made is a form of self care, if you ask me! Kari and her husband have successfully raised a son who will very soon be graduating from high school. In no time they’ll be empty nesters. She has spent her entire adulthood focusing on being a great mom to Peyton, a partner to Rick, and a professional in her rewarding but demanding field of work. It’s high time she did something utterly self indulgent!
These portraits truly celebrate Kari’s beauty at this time of life. No longer the ingénue but certainly not a dowager either, she’s in the same age group as me and I understand completely the treacherous minefield of self esteem that we now face in mid-life. I was so pleased to be able to spend an afternoon with Kari making these gorgeous images of her (especially because, like me, she loves the idea of a classic black and white portrait). And if you think about it, even though this portrait photography session was theoretically just for her, it really wasn’t. Images like these have staying power. I imagine her future great grandchildren will proudly display them in their homes some day.
Couples Portraits in Downtown Colorado Springs
I’m trying to catch up on the backlog of fun images I created last year but haven’t shared yet, so let’s start with Eric and Melissa’s cute couples portraits in downtown Colorado Springs! I love their style They wanted some nice pictures for their Christmas card, but a couple of funny images too. Let’s just say they embrace the cheesy side of the 1970s. Ha! We started off in Monument Valley Park for their pretty pictures, then went downtown for the kooky ones. With puppies Lucy and Larry in on the action, it made for a super fun portrait shoot!
Senior Portraits for an Old Friend
I love doing senior portraits, but this session was extra fun because I’ve known Lennox for his entire life — technically, though he’s young, he’s an old friend of mine. His parents moved into the house across the street from me before he was born, and it wasn’t long before they became parents to this extraordinary kid (no I’m not at all biased! ). It was a pleasure watching Lennox grow up and I can hardly believe he’ll soon be graduating from high school. That was fast! Good job, Lennox! I had so much fun hanging out and making these cool senior portraits of you, my young “old” friend!
Branding Portraits in Manitou Springs
Behold the lovely Chrissy, who needed professional head shots for her company’s site but didn’t want a traditional studio look. She chose Manitou Springs for the location, since it’s one of her favorite hangouts. In keeping with Manitou’s general vibe, we kept it low key, strolling around and stopping for pictures whenever the lighting and background gave us a good opportunity. This resulted in friendly, casual and flattering portraits that convey Chrissy’s professionalism and expertise in her field. If you need to update your brand with wonderful professional head shots like these, get in touch to book your session today!
