Cate loves Scott!

When Cate and Scott called me from their home in Brooklyn, NY to ask about wedding photography, I just knew that they were going to be a cool couple to work with. Hiring a photographer without benefit of meeting her in person requires a leap of faith, but we hit it off so well over the phone that we knew right away it was going to be a great fit! I didn’t actually get to meet Scott and Cate until the day before their wedding and yet it felt just like old friends. What a nice couple, and what wonderful, interesting families they both have! Their wedding and reception last month was a relaxed affair at the Craftwood Inn in Manitou Springs. The ceremony was unique in that they solemnized it themselves (no officiant, just their siblings standing up for them). Many of their friends and family traveled all the way from the east coast and points beyond, so I’m happy that we had such a sunny Colorado day to celebrate this happy union.

Many warm congratulations Cate and Scott!

As she descended the stairs and rounded the corner, Cate was greeted by her many awestruck admirers!

When I took Cate outside for a few pre-ceremony portraits, her beloved 94 year-old Grandma Gigi arrived. This was Cate’s emotional reaction upon spying her.

The flowergirls, Courtney and Ashley, do a little last-minute recon before heading down the aisle.

Married 30 seconds!

I couldn’t imagine Cate and Scott striking some uberdramatic high fashion poses for their portraits, so I kept it simple and classic.

Cute couple alert!

I absolutely loved Cate’s gown. It reminded me of something John Singer Sargent might have painted. Gorgeous!

Their simple, elegant cake was from Boonzaaijer’s Dutch Bakery.

I always love these sorts of displays because I wonder if someday a photo I’ve taken will end up on a table just like this, at some wedding far in the future.

Cate’s dad Garritt delivered a toast that had everyone in stitches.

Their first dance

This lady was cracking up because she had just discovered that the outfit she’d bought to wear at the wedding still had the security tag attached!

Brandon & Stephanie

One of my favorite weddings ever! What a wonderful, wonderful couple and I am so happy for them! Stephanie and Brandon met at work and started dating, which was a no-no according to company policy. They weren’t going to let that little rule stand in the way of true love, though. Now they work at separate places, ha! The wedding took place on July 12th at the Denver Botanic Gardens, one of my favorite places in the entire world, and the reception was at the JW Marriott in Cherry Creek. Every moment of the day was simply bursting with joy. I really had fun recording all that, even though it was scorching hot out! These two are adorable and they deserve every happiness. Big hugs and congrats to you, Steph and Brandon!

Practicing her vows in Mom’s kitchen before heading to the ceremony.

Stephanie vowed to Brandon that she would love Snickers (their cat) and John Elway as much as he does.

The Japanese Garden in the Denver Botanic Gardens is, to me, a little slice of heaven. I love to go there and just sit. What a wonderful place for a portrait.

I caught this quiet little moment of them in the lounge just before they jumped into the reception.

Brandon’s aunt danced the flamenco for us while her husband played Spanish guitar. They were really good! The crowd was enthralled.

Just after cutting the cake. How’s this for passion?!?

At twilight I coaxed Steph and Brandon outside for just a few more romantic shots.

Last shot of the night.

Jay & Aleisha

Oh my gosh I am so far behind in blogging weddings! Apologies to all my lovely people who want to see their sneak peeks! Here’s a fantastic wedding that I shot at the end of June — wow, what a photogenic couple! Aleisha and Jay were so cute, I couldn’t stop taking pictures of them. I was so excited to shoot their wedding because it was my first time shooting in the gorgeous Grace Episcopal Church on Tejon Street. I’ve been dying to shoot a wedding in there for years and I finally got the chance! It was such a great day, wonderful energy and the weather cooperated, and these two are so in love. You guys, I wish you all the best!

With apologies to Mary the flower girl, this picture is hilarious!

Aleisha made button boutonnieres for all the guys.

Beautiful Grace Episcopal Church

There’s nothing like getting a kiss from your new husband and hugs from your best friends at the same time!

Checking out her new bling

Yes I’m mere inches from being trampled to death here, but it was worth it to get this awesome shot!

The button theme continued with the groom’s cake.

There were origami cranes all over the reception. I thought it would make for a cool rings shot.

Aleisha’s uncle gave a very moving toast. This is her expression as she listens to him talk about her mother, whom she lost at a young age.

I love this image, especially the expressions on the faces of the people in the background.

The bouquet toss…

and the triumphant bouquet catcher!

I think Jay’s grandmother was trying to tell me something!

I came across these guys decorating the car as I left.

Beautiful new ways to enjoy your images

Just wanted to show off some of the new products I’m offering lately. I don’t just take your pictures, I offer you beautiful ways to enjoy and display them!

I’m a sucker for anything girly so I just love these trifold folios! They come in a multitude of colors and make a beautiful gift for a loved one or for yourself. They are hand crafted from extremely high quality, archival materials and should be considered heirlooms.

These beautiful folios feature Japanese bookbinding fabric and Swiss ribbons. Lovely!

I’ve also recently started offering custom designed press printed linen albums to be used as wedding guestbooks and for high school seniors. Your friends sign directly on the pages and it’s too cool for school! They’re available in 8×8″ and 12×12″ sizes, and also in a petite little 5×5″ version, which makes a great gift. As with the folios there are many color options.

I custom design the layout of each page. These make unique guestbooks, but I can also design them as regular coffee table albums. It’s a great way to showcase that family portrait shoot!

If you’d like to see all the page layouts from this particular album, please click here

Did you know that I can create custom-designed greeting cards? These are of course great for holidays, but they are also a lovely way to introduce your new baby to the world, ask loved ones to save the date for your wedding, or put out the word that your oldest is graduating from high school. They also make great wedding thank you cards!

My 11×17″ and 20×20″ collages are a wonderful way to present the lovely photographs I’ve taken for you :o) The 11×17″ features four images and looks great whether horizontal or vertical.

The 20×20″ collage features 15 images and a color block with text. This one has become a big favorite with my customers and I just love the clean and crisp presentation!

Devon & Angela

Here’s a great wedding I shot on May 17th. Angela and Devon actually booked me over a year ago so there’s been a big build up, and they didn’t disappoint! Their wedding was colorful and fun, and at the end of the night I hated to go home because the party was bumpin’! These two have great taste, in fact they’re one of the most stylish couples I’ve ever worked with. I knew their wedding would follow suit! They couldn’t have asked for a better day to tie the knot — the weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. Their ceremony took place at Hillside Gardens, one of my favorite outdoor venues, then cocktails at the Warehouse, followed by dinner and dancing at Tre Luna.

What a wonderful day! Angela and Devon, you guys were great. Happy honeymoon!

Angela wore these incredible hot pink shoes by Betsey Johnson, a gift from Devon.

This photo was taken behind my old studio! I had just moved into my new studio space the week before, so this was kind of a “farewell to my old place” picture.

Officially the cutest wedding favors ever! And a really cool cake too.

Angela’s grandpa and grandma, Amado and Orvilla — still in love after 50 years.

The bouquet catch!

Toward the end of the night. Even though Angela wears heels every day, those Betsey Johnson pumps still got the best of her!
