Colorado fashion photography: Rose’s dance portfolio

fashion photographer Colorado Springs and Denver

Beautiful Rose is a ballerina with very high aspirations! She began her dance training in early childhood, like many little girls. Rose’s family soon recognized her potential and went to great measures to foster her talent. Now she goes to a special high school where she dances for hours each day, in addition to a regular scholarly curriculum. It’s a very tough protocol for a teenager to take on, but Rose is laser focused on her bright future in dance. These photos were taken at the end of August for her professional portfolio. What an amazing young woman!

Colorado fashion photography: Ashley

[ fashion photography in Colorado ]

Ashley has true high fashion potential! She’s extremely tall and thin, and has absolutely ridiculous cheekbones. And those huge hazel eyes! She’s like a baby Christy Turlington with a touch of Angelina Jolie. Gorgeous. I’ve done a couple of shoots with her, most recently this one on August 10th in Calhan, Colorado. I spent a lot of time and energy scouting the location, figuring out the exact time of day to shoot, and sourcing wardrobe. Ashley was absolutely fearless standing up there on those huge rocks at sunset! Many thanks to my talented hair and makeup artist, Pamela of Face/Body FX, and my boyfriend Pat, who tirelessly carried gear and held reflectors. The whole shoot came together beautifully and I’m thrilled with the results!

Here are a few snaps from Ashley’s test shoot with me last December. I never blogged them, so I might as well share them now. The camera loves her!

Colorado fashion photography: presenting Miss Modernism!

[ fashion photography in Denver ]

Here’s Denver’s reigning Miss Modernism, Jaime Askvig! We did this photo shoot last weekend in Denver with the help of our mutual friend Jenn. Jaime is as in love with mid-century modern style as I am, and between the two of us I think we have enough 1950’s-60’s clothing, jewelry and accessories to start our own vintage shop.

This shoot was a blast! I couldn’t resist making a faux Vogue cover out of one of my favorite shots. Congratulations Jaime on your win, you’re the best Miss Modernism ever!

Don’t you love the robin’s egg blue dress?!? It’s handmade! The purse belonged to my mom in the 1960’s.

So ladylike!

That’s actually a candy cigarette. I “lit” it in Photoshop.

To get this expression I told Jaime to look out the window, the cabana boy is out there and he just took off his shirt ;^)

Sassy!

I really like this shot. Jaime looks FABULOUS.

I just opened the book to a random page and instructed Jaime to look shocked. It turns out I had landed on the most scandalous part of the book (if you’ve read Peyton Place, you know what part I’m talking about). Funny!

Jaime’s red opera cloak is to DIE for!

Jaime’s mom made the sash for her. The tiara was part of her winnings, and the necklace belonged to her grandmother.

It’s the next best thing to being in Vogue — fun, empowering, and best of all you’ll end up with the best photos of yourself that you’ve ever seen. Contact me for more info!

This one’s my fave!

Jennifer’s model portfolio shoot

You may remember Jennifer from this shoot I did with her in August. Well, her revived modeling career is steaming right along! After quickly signing with two agencies (they snatched her right up!), she came to me for a more extensive portfolio shoot.
Here are a few faves from our shoot a couple of weekends ago.

Did I mention Jennifer’s a yoga instructor? She’s really good! She did a few asanas for the camera in Monument Valley Park. This is late afternoon sunshine mixed with off-camera flash.

Her agent asked for some smiling shots. What a great smile!

This one is my fave. Wow she’s beautiful!
