These last couple of years I’ve really enjoyed doing small wedding photography, like this tiny, romantic affair in Green Mountain Falls. Certainly the trend of more intimately scaled celebrations has something to do with the pandemic, but in many cases it’s also a situation where the couple are in their late thirties, forties or older, and one or both of them are getting married for a second time and are not interested in having a big bash. (Not that there’s anything wrong with a big bash, of course!) This was the case with Alisa and Brandon, whose love story is very sweet. They were actually good friends years ago, in high school, and didn’t see each other in a romantic way at the time. Each of them went on to marry, and each of them had a daughter. Nearly two decades later, after both marriages ended in divorce, Brandon and Alisa reconnected, and this time the sparks flew; it wasn’t long before they made up for lost time and got engaged. What had started with friendship all those years ago grew into so much more! Their petite wedding at the gazebo in Green Mountain Falls was extremely emotional, and their respective tween-aged daughters (who are almost exactly the same age and get along quite famously) participated in the ceremony by reading self written vows, which only added to the happy tears, mine included. It was so sweet! Afterward, they had a small wedding reception at Pizzeria Rustica in Old Colorado City. It really was a perfect day, and a perfect way to celebrate their profound love and enduring friendship.
Green Mountain Falls wedding :: Marcea + Mark
Not that I don’t love a big, traditional wedding, but it’s fun to get an outside-the-box couple like Marcea and Mark every now and then! It’s also extra lovely when they happen to be friends of mine (well, Mark’s technically a new friend, but I give Marcea my full approval on him ). They were married in a small ceremony at the historic gazebo in Green Mountain Falls, on a beautiful, sunny fall day, and they stayed true to themselves down to their matching Doc Martens. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bride in black before. Marcea looked perfect! Congratulations to the bride and groom, you were made for each other Marcea and Mark! Smooches!
Mothers Chapel wedding :: Dania + Connor
The 2018 wedding season officially kicked off for me last Saturday with Dania and Connor’s tiny Mothers Chapel wedding in the Garden of the Gods. This is one of my favorite little churches, with its classic whitewashed clapboards and steeple. It’s so tiny and perfect for a small scale wedding like Dania and Connor’s. Their brief, emotional ceremony was strictly a family affair, which makes sense because the Mothers Chapel can’t hold more than about 15 people!
I love itty bitty weddings like this. I just do. It was so much fun for me just being a small part of this happy day, and I got some great pictures of this cool rock and roll couple! Congratulations, Connor and Dania!
Breckenridge Brewery wedding :: Becky + Chris
Love love love this Breckenridge Brewery Littleton wedding! Chris and Becky’s love story started with friendship way back in high school. A couple of decades later they reconnected, and friendship grew into something much deeper. When they finally decided to tie the knot, they did their wedding with panache at the wonderful, rustic Farmhouse at Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton. Chris is a rock guitarist and Becky is a music lover, so the theme for their big day was rock and roll, naturally! Becky and Chris are wedding photographers too (they’re the talent behind Black Forest Photography), so it was truly an honor for me to be the one who got to document their happy day. Congrats guys! Rock on!
Chris and Becky
Congratulations to Becky and Chris, married one week ago on a breezy afternoon Littleton. Here’s a little teaser from their big day. Many more to come!!!
