Liz and Michael’s maternity session was special, because I’ve been photographing Michael’s large family in one way or another for over a decade now. Wedding pictures, baby portraits, family gatherings — you name it, I have documented it for the extended Ziccardi family and I’ve enjoyed every minute. So when Michael and Liz got engaged, I was tickled that they chose me to photograph their wedding. The early days of the pandemic forced a bit of a change in their plans and they ended up eloping, but even so, I got the photograph their special day — its tiny scale made it even more sweet and romantic, in my eyes. (The last photo in this series is from their wedding day, just for fun.)
Bison Peak Lodge Wedding :: Kyra + Cotter
I’ve been dying to share pictures from Kyra and Cotter’s picture-perfect wedding at Bison Peak Lodge at Puma Hills. Yes, it rained (a lot), which delayed the ceremony, but when the weather finally cleared, Mother Nature graced us with a brilliant and quite photogenic rainbow. It was magical! Of course Kyra looked magnificent in her lacy gown, and with the mountains as a dramatic backdrop, it was hard to take a bad picture on this amazing day. Congratulations Cotter and Kyra!
Couples Portraits in Red Rock Canyon
Some romantic couples portraits of Sorcha and Jack taken in Red Rock Canyon Open Space in Colorado Springs a couple of months ago. Good looking couple! If you’re one of my wedding clients and Sorcha looks familiar, it’s because she has been second shooting for me all year. I thought it’d be nice to thank her by taking these pictures of them, and Mother Nature cooperated by providing us with perfect golden light for a few amazing minutes. Fantastic!
Surprise Marriage Proposal at the Garden of the Gods Overlook!
I live for happy moments like these! Austin contacted me from Texas a couple of weeks before a planned trip to Colorado with his sweetie. He planned to propose and wanted the big moment captured for posterity. We did a little scheming on the sly and determined that the Garden of the Gods overlook on Mesa would be the best spot. On the big day my second photographer Joy and I posed as tourists, and when Austin and Katie arrived, we positioned ourselves a few yards behind them. I’m sure Katie thought we were the weirdest tourists ever as she could feel us lurking behind the bushes as they admired the view for what felt like an eternity. But then… suddenly Austin got down on one knee and popped the question! Of course her response was an enthusiastic YES, then she dropped to her knees to embrace him. A couple of ladies in the parking lot above us witnessed the whole thing and cheered loudly. It was a wonderful moment! Afterward we went to the Garden of the Gods to snap a few happy official portraits. Congratulations to Katie and Austin! I hope your wedding is everything you dreamed of!
A Tiny Colorado Springs Elopement :: Danielle + Paige
It’s high time I shared some of the fun photos I’ve taken over the last few months, so I’ll start with Danielle and Paige’s sweet Colorado Springs elopement pictures taken in July. They came all the way from Ohio to make it official here, because they love Colorado so much. (Who wouldn’t, right?) We started in Palmer Park and ended up in the Garden of the Gods, and even though it was a little rainy at first, the sun came out at the very end and gave us a brief but beautiful golden glow just before sunset. It was the perfect exclamation point on their big moment! Congrats Danielle and Paige, I loved being your Colorado Springs elopement photographer! Best wishes on your new life together!!!!
