Retro Senior Pictures in Colorado Springs :: Rowan

retro senior portraits in Colorado Springs

I just love these retro senior pictures that I took of Miss Rowan in various locations around Colorado Springs! She’s so dang cute! And very photogenic. Rowan really wanted these to look like they were taken 60 or more years ago, so I did my best to make them as authentic as possible.

I love it when I get a high school senior who wants something different and isn’t afraid to stand out a little. I think Rowan has got miles of style, and a 1950s look works perfectly on her. In fact, she’s wearing her grandmother’s perfectly preserved vintage swimsuit in some of these photos. It’s certainly no surprise that it fits her perfectly, given their shared DNA! And that beautiful 1956 Chevrolet belongs to an acquaintance of mine who was nice enough to let us use it (very, very carefully) for a prop. The vintage blue and white polka-dotted dress is mine, and she bought the black dress at a thrift store. Rowan’s hair and makeup were expertly done by Kimberly Clay Artistry.

Rowan, you rocked your retro senior portraits photo shoot! What fun!

Online Dating Profile Pictures :: Paula

online dating profile pictures

Do you need online dating profile pictures? You’re not the only one! Miss Paula is newly single and on the hunt. She’s also a big believer in putting your best face forward, so rather than using just cell phone snaps for her dating profile, she asked me take some flattering, relaxed, natural portraits of her. We did these downtown in mid-May, as you can tell from the pink blooms on the eastern redbud trees (I love them, they smell so nice!). For portraits like Paula’s, I always advise my clients to dress like they would for a first coffee date. In other words, something casual and flattering, but don’t look as if you’re trying too hard. I think what she chose for these pictures was perfect. It strikes just the right note. She looks relaxed and pretty, and there’s no doubt in my mind that she stands out among the many on eHarmony.

Pioneers Museum Wedding :: Savannah + Brad

Pioneers Museum wedding Colorado Springs

I’m so pleased to share this wonderful Pioneers Museum wedding from earlier in the month. It’s been a long time coming for this beautiful couple. After many years together, Brad and Savannah finally decided to tie the knot, and they did it in style with a ceremony at the historic Pioneers Museum and a reception at the Mining Exchange. They were enveloped by the love of the many family members and good friends who had come from seemingly every corner of the country to witness their happiness on this perfect spring day.

I’ve documented nuptials all over Colorado and the surrounding states, and even as far afield as Florida and California, but I’m always happiest when I get to photograph a downtown Colorado Springs wedding. I live minutes away from and spend so much of my time there — I love every nook and cranny of our funky downtown! So I’m tickled whenever I get to work at a historically significant places like the Pioneers Museum and the Mining Exchange, both of them such great wedding venues. It’s even better when I get to work with a couple that are as nice as Savannah and Brad. They made my job so easy!

Congratulations Savannah and Brad, I loved working with you! What a beautiful celebration! Happy honeymoon!

A Beautiful Downtown Colorado Springs Wedding Album

Downtown Colorado Springs wedding
You may remember Diana and Cody’s wonderful downtown Colorado Springs wedding from last fall. A month ago I delivered their final product to them: this gorgeous heirloom album, chock full of beautiful, happy, meaningful images. It’s something they can cherish for the rest of their lives, then pass down to their children and grandchildren. I’m really proud of this custom designed wedding book. I think it tells the story of their day perfectly.

Garden of the Gods Club wedding :: Anna + Jonathan

I have been dying to share the pictures from this beautiful Garden of the Gods Club wedding! Anna and Jon, along with their families and closest friends, traveled all the way from Chicago and parts beyond to celebrate their union at the beautiful Garden of the Gods Club. Anna was so giddy and animated, it was a joy to capture her happiness, and as for Jon, he just couldn’t stop smiling!

Springtime weather in the Rockies is, as you know, a little fickle! Our day started out with sunshine, and the mild weather held up nicely throughout the pre-ceremony portraits. But half an hour before the outdoor ceremony was to begin, the skies suddenly darkened, the temperature plummeted and rain started to come down. Plan B was put into action! All the chairs were moved from the lawn to the covered patio, the heaters were turned on, and the fire pits were lit. Then suddenly, just as the processional was about to commence, the rain stopped and the sun burst through the clouds, bathing the entire ceremony in a golden glow. Mother Nature really put on a gorgeous show for us. It was fantastic!

The reception was a ton of fun. Jonathan’s family is Jewish, so the highlight of the night for me was the hora. It’s always such a blast! Even Jon’s four year old niece and septuagenarian grandma got a ride in the chair. Talk about a fun party!

I love any opportunity to document a Garden of the Gods Club wedding, and this one was extra special. I had the best time! Congratulations to you, Anna and Jon! Happy honeymoon!
